This boat has a 6' 2" height within the pilot house. There is a nice head with shower (optional), an ice box, sink and stove on the port side, with berthing for two inside. The starboard side forward of the head has a nice cabinet with shelves, then a swiveling spring adjusted pilot seat facing forward here a dashboard console has whatever instruments one may want to have displayed. To the right are engine controls and gauges. In the center of the console is the hydraulic steering wheel. Below and forward of the Captain's chair is a dining table with seating athwartship. The two seats are adjacent to the vee-berths and each seat can extend the sleeping area by moving the seat-back into the leg area, so that the actual length of the sleeping berths are extended to about 8 1/2'! Above the vee-berth is an opening screened hatch, and under the vee berths are additional storage as well as forward of the berths.
ph3a.jpg (31451 bytes) Power is either a Yanmar diesel 9 HP or 18 HP engine or a Vetus (Mitsubishi) 22HP  engine. The 9 will provide 7.6 knots, the 18 should provide 11 knots and the 22 will provide about 14 knots. Steering is hydraulic ram, but there is also a tiller for steering when sailing. Options include refrigeration, pressure water system and hot water with a shower, a marine head, choice of
stoves, and many other amenities.

On the port side are the ice box, stove and sink with storage under. Then the swiveling
co-pilot's seat facing the console. The halyard lines are controlled from this seat, coming through below the windshield and entering a rope clutch mounted on the console.

Sailwise, the main sail is cut down to about 260 square feet. There is a centerboard under the large centerboard trunk which is also a large folding table, if a smaller than normal centerboard is desired, this can be accomplished to make more walk-around room within the cabin, but some tracking performance will be lost. Speeds under sail should be about 7 knots on the beam and somewhat less on the quarter and closehauled.

The boat has a zippered rear hatch with vinyl window and screen (optional), with a sliding
hatch over the companionway steps for easy access. The cockpit area is six feet in length and can accommodate four people in comfort while sailing. Rigging, the main is gaff-rigged for good performance and the jib is led to the standard five foot bow plank as on the Skimmer 25.
The mast is mounted on a tabernacle which allows it to fold down easily for trailering. One should be able to go from trailering to sailing within a half-hour. The boat rests !ow on the trailer bunk boards and as a result can be launched at virtually any boat ramp

If configured as a trawler, there would be no bow plank of course, and obviously, no spars or sails. The length overall would be 25' 5". The boat would have no centerboard or centerboard trunk/table.

This boat is meant to be a pleasant sailor, as maintenance free as is possible, easily trailerable, and as nice a performing boat under power as you can imagine. With a 16" draft (2" at the bow) one can easily beach it, and gunkholing will never be better.
